THINGS I LOVE ABOUT FINLAND || REASONS WHY I LOVE LIVING IN FINLAND

When I traveled from Germany to Finland to participate in my nursing entrance examination, I didn’t know what to expect from the new country I’d call home if I finally get admitted.

Fast forward to three years later, to say that I’m impressed would be an understatement! There are so many things I love about Finland and I’d love to share them with you.

Before that, I’d love to say that as a foreigner, I’ve faced some unexpected challenges in Finland while studying and working BUT for this post, I want to focus on the positives.

Here are some reasons I love living in Finland:

1.Functional Finnish System: When I got adjusted as a new student in Finland, I was so impressed by how organized the Finnish system is. Taxes paid by residence are used for the development of the country. Ministries ensure the smooth running of the country. Workers go to work with the mindset of serving the people.

2. Easy movement in Finland: The transportation system in Finland is very convenient, timely and customer-oriented. There are various options of commuting from point A to point B. As a foreigner, I’d advise you to always go to your bus station few minutes before the departure time because buses and metros in Helsinki are ALWAYS timely and you may miss your bus if you arrive by the departure time.

3. Clean Environment: When I moved to Finland newly, I couldn’t help but notice how clean public spaces are always kept. Perhaps, that’s one of the reasons foreigners tend to have cleaning jobs as students😊 (by the way, I did that too while studying). One way they prevent littering is by providing trash cans at strategic places. They also judiciously clear up the snow in winter, mow the grasses in summer and pick up the fallen leaves in autumn.

4.The privacy you enjoy: The way houses are built in Finland, one cannot visit without informing you. Personally, I love the privacy living in block of flats brings. There’s a central security lock that is available to tenants alone. This way, unwanted guests and thieves cannot get into your apartment easily.

5.The love for nature. Finns have a great and enviable relationship with trees, flowers and forests. Virtually everywhere I’ve lived in Finland, I’ve been surrounded by beautiful flowers and trees.  They also pay attention to aesthetic decorations and furnishings. This is seen indoor and outdoor spaces.
6. Freedom to roam the forest: There is the word in finnish “jokamiehen oikeus” and it means “every man’s right” in English. By that, everyone has the right to pick berries, apples and mushrooms in the forest freely without restrictions. I love it because I look forward to summer when I can go for berry picking with my friends.

7. The Safety in Finland: I think this about the most striking thing I love about Finland- the safety. I’ve had so many situations where I left my valuables and still got it back. When I was pregnant with my child, I worked late into the night and going back home in a lonely path was not an unthinkable thing to do because I knew that no one would dare harm me. The police and other security agencies have been be able to maintain peace and order and have successfully made citizens know that their rights of safety are respected and valued.

8.The comprehensive health care for all: I really didn’t know how affordable and comprehensive the health care system in Finland was until I got married and became pregnant. I received the best care a pregnant woman could wish for. As a registered nurse, I knew what to expect from a skilled professional and I got just that even without disclosing my profession to the health staff.
Knowing that my health is treasured and my baby’s health is a priority to the government is applaudable!

Well, let me take a break here and give you the chance to share your thoughts about things you love about Finland (if you live in Finland) or the things you love about where you live. PLEASE LEAVE YOUR COMMENT SECTION.

Thoughts about that kitchen waste..STOP THE PROCRASTINATION!!!

THOUGHTS ABOUT THAT KITCHEN WASTE:PROCRASTINATING THAT SOLUTION Hey lovelies!!! It is my first blog and I am so happy to welcome you all to join me in this fabulous journey. I hope you enjoy reading my thoughts and health tips so let's get started. I got inspired by a discussion I had recently about a huge challenge that is hindering us from achieving our schedules and desired goals and I decided to remind us about it and offer a little tip on how to deal with it. Let's start with overcoming the problem of procrastination. Many of us can identify with the problem of procrastination,- those times when you feel something needs to be done but then you postpone it for a more convenient time, until it becomes a nuisance and then you're forced to deal with it but more urgently than you would want to.  We often pay little or no attention to this problem in disguise. I have a good example of this from a very special room in our home which is our kitchen . We may feel l

SHOULD CHRISTIAN WOMEN MAKEUP? TRUE BEAUTY FOR A WOMAN

I've been asked countless times about my stance about women, makeup and beauty. Fortunately, I read from an article online that wrote intelligently about exactly what I believe in and I would love to share it with you all. We live in a society that places a high degree of importance on physical appearance. We see men and women (more women) running to plastic surgeons, having many different kinds of procedures done simply to enhance their appearance. Our society is obsessed with physical beauty, and many women are caught up in that obsession as well. But should beauty really be that important for a woman? Is beauty something that a Christian woman should strive for? What makes a woman truly beautiful? A woman can and should be beautiful—God designed her to be that way. Her skin, hair and other features were created to be soft and appealing, and her body was fashioned to be attractive and beautiful to men. A woman was designed to be attractive, and most women want to be
