My NIGERIAN Embassy Application Experience In Sweden
This was me packing my bag and getting ready for my flight the next morning while thinking about the experience I had with my son in the same embassy I was going to apply for my passport!
He (my son) was three months old when my husband and I decided to visit the Nigerian embassy in Sweden for a new passport application for him. We had a terrible experience to say the least!
Being in a totally unfamiliar environment made him to loose his sleep and to make matters worse, the official in charge of taking his bio-metrics went about her OWN BUSINESS WHILE MAKING OTHERS WAIT!
To say unprofessional is an understatement! I'd rather say unapologetic! I'll explain. So she (the official) got back to the office and showed no remorse about her action. I was stunned when we finally got to our turn to take some bio-metrics for our son and she said "oh he came to apply for a passport na"
Wait! Wait!!! Wait!!! Is that a punishment?! Should he be crying all day to prove he's eligible for a passport? I was so disappointed to see how some people are indifferent about their negligence and the cry of a baby!
This is not a RANT I promise. I'm trying to express a genuine concern for my country and the values we should uphold within and without.
After such a flashback, I really didn't know what to expect from the same Nigerian embassy in Sweden for my passport renewal.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that the officials were early (unlike my previous experience), professional and kind to say the least.
The man at the reception gave all the necessary information needed and double checked every one's documents to be sure nothing was lacking!
What a breath of fresh air! I know I've been talking (or writing) for a long time but let me summarize😊
This post is to appreciate the good work
and professionalism at which every one in the Nigerian embassy in Sweden showed while serving our motherland in Sweden in May 2019.
If you want to see what I did in between, I made a Vlog about it. Click below to watch.
