It may not be the most appealing fairytale you ever read but it has created a lasting impression and a foundation of my professional life as a nurse. As with all events, it began on a day that was rather beautiful outwardly or to the eyes because I was fighting with a gloomy and disappointing thought of what to do with my life after not securing an admission to study Medicine in a reputable institution in Nigeria. I was so preoccupied with my thoughts that I didn’t hear what my mom had suggested to me. As usual she decided to repeat what she had said but now with a loud voice that was capable of waking someone up from a deep sleep. “You can apply to study nursing here in Rivers State” Without much thought, I accepted the offer and I concluded that I will do it for her(my mom) since I was bent on being the medical doctor I dreamt of from my teenage age. Fast forward to now, I’m glad I listened to her because I have found inner joy being a confidant, advocate, care provider and the one that put smiles on the faces of others as a way of profession.
I am unique nurse with a difference
If you are a nurse, share your story below as it will season my day and help others know you more
