It is already three months since the birth of my
bundle of joy! I just cannot believe how fast the time has flown by. You can
guess rightly that a lot has changed in our lives (my husband and me). We have
finally come to the realization that becoming a parent changes everything.
Below are some of the amazing things that change when you become a parent:
Changes in Routine: Having a new member of the family automatically
changes your routine. You’ll finally realize being a mom, you have to wake up
and sleep when the baby dictates. Even when you plan your day, you will find
out that those schedules will essentially revolve around the baby’s time.
New Found Respect for Parents: You’d think it is all about having a new member
of the family and life goes on as usual but it is far from the truth. As
parents you tend to look at the big picture, accept new responsibilities and
still keep everything else in control while mastering the act of caring for a
little one perfectly. Being a parent has taught me how to respect parents.

Changes in Sleep Pattern: One certain thing that changes when you become a parent
is your sleep pattern. It is not just limited to the amount of sleep you have
in the night but also the intervals you have to wake up in between to feed or
change soaked diapers. What is more surprising is how your brain adjusts to the
new routine that you can actually discuss logically without having amnesia or
mincing your words.
Changes in Diet and Lifestyle: As a mom, you won’t only change to healthier
meals in order to shed the excess weight gained during pregnancy (that is, if
you are like me) but you also have to always check if what you are eating is good
for your little angel since you are breastfeeding. You will also want to lead a
good life that is worthy of emulation by your kid therefore, you 'll become intentional in making smart and better lifestyle
choices.
You Have a New Priority: Your priority as a new parent changes and you
suddenly realize that your baby is the number-one priority you have. You will
no longer think about yourself alone or first but the baby when shopping or
planning any activity. You also notice that most of your discussions with your
friends will be centered on the baby.
You Become More Confident: You suddenly get a new-found confidence after the
birth of your child and how well you’ve been able to take care of a new one.
With every milestone your child attains successfully and every responsibility
achieved, your self-esteem will increase and you’ll feel stronger.
Loss of Personal Time: With your little angel, there is no way you can
ever be alone. You can no longer spend a long time in the bathroom, doing
laundry or even applying make-up. Be sure that you will be interrupted by a cry
for one need or the other or even a hug.
You Get More Organized: With a new member of the family, one thing that
definitely changes in you as a parent is how more organized you will become.
You will start making plans well ahead of time, you will learn to keep track of
things in a better way and even schedule when to meet up with a friend or call
someone in a way that suits you and the baby.
You Get to Know Your Spouse More: With the increased responsibilities and less time
for self, you suddenly see the changes in your spouse and how he or she reacts
to intense emotions such as joy and sadness. You will also realize that your spouse
is a blessing to you and the baby and will develop more respect for him or her.
You Become More Grateful: Seeing the changes that your baby goes through
every day is magical! The smiles and laughter that appears on your baby after
he or she is well-fed or when he or she sees you will actually change your
perspective about life and make you appreciate little gestures of kindness and
care.
